Hey Y’all Hey! Kijan ou Ye!
Deodorants…we need them…well not everyone uses them but I need them. I’ve always used regular deodorants. By regular deodorant I mean the ones that contain aluminum. For years I never had a problem with them. Then in my late 20’s I had to switch brands because I developed a rash from one. Last year when I was pregnant I then had to switch to a natural deodorant because my underarms turned black. Now at first I thought my underarms turned black because of the ‘mask of pregnancy‘ since my skin was turning darker all around but to my surprise it was a rash from my deodorant.
This is what caused me to embark on this journey of finding a natural deodorant that wouldn’t leave me with a rash but would keep me smelling fresh by fighting odor and dry by controlling the sweat. This became a trial and error phase which was not fun. First and foremost, when trying natural deodorants, it is recommended to detox first. Our armpits need to detox from all the toxins in regular deodorants. The detox I choose to use was this one by Pacifica.
Native

The first natural deodorant I used was Native. Plenty of people have good things to say about Native. However, for me it did not work. I was highly disappointed because I paid full price for this deodorant. I felt as though I was walking around with wet, stinky armpits. Some people told me I should try a different scent but let’s be real deodorants are expensive so I contemplated purchasing another scent but ultimately decided not to in fear that it wouldn’t work and I would be stuck with another wasted product. Oh no! So I had to toss the Native deodorant after several tries. I wanted to like it but not everything works for everyone and I’m perfectly fine with that.
Type A

Now onto Type A…Luckily, I received this deodorant from an Influenster Voxbox complimentary to provide them with my honest opinion. I say luckily because I was reluctant to purchase another deodorant and have it fail. So, my honest opinion on Type A is that it’s so-so. What do I mean by so-so? Does it keep the sweat at bay by keeping me dry? Yes, it does. But does it keep me fresh? Unfortunately, it does not. After about 4 hours of wearing it I started smelling funky and I didn’t appreciate that. One day I’m sitting at work and I had a sniff of my armpits and was so disappointed. Now I would definitely use this deodorant when I’m running errands and won’t be outside the house for a long period of time. It does smell good though and the consistency of it is similar to lotion.
Schmidt

I finally decided to take the plunge and purchase another natural deodorant. At this point I became frustrated. I truly wanted to switch to a natural deodorant but the previous ones were giving me major doubt. So, this time I choose Schmidt and it definitely was a good choice. Schmidt deodorant is my favorite of all. It keeps me dry and fresh. So far it hasn’t left me with a rash and I hope it doesn’t. Sometimes I have to double check and do the sniff test because it feels like I’m wearing nothing. The only con I have to say is that it does leave white streaks on colored clothes so be careful when putting your clothes on.

If you are a natural deodorant wearer, let me know what’s your favorite and less favorite.

Man, I have such a hard time with natural deodorant. I want to love it. I want to stop using the bad stuff. I KNOW it’s bad.
But I smell so bad using a natural deodorant. I’m not sure I can try another!
I’ve been trying to find a good natural deodorant. I’ve had such a hard time finding one that really works.
I haven’t heard of these brands but have made my own, from a recipe a friend shared with me, based on coconut oil. I haven’t yet had a chance to test that one in a summer yet 😉
I’ve read soo much about this lately. I am not using natural deodorant but have many friends interested in the topic.
I’ve never tried natural deodorants before. I am always so terrified that they wont last long. I am happy to find this post. Very informative.
I have been looking for a good, natural and aluminium free deodorant and been researching on it. Glad I found your post as I now have more options to choose from
The natural ingredient is the number one factor when I look into a product. Glad that the deodorant does not have stains.
I always love hearing about a new brand. I am currently using a natural deodorant but always open to trying a new option. I know my almost-adult daughter is looking to try a new one.
I’ve needed to switch over to natural deodorant for a while! I just hear all these rumors that they don’t smell good. Your post has made me want to try them out though!
So happy for you that you committed to natural deodorant! It’s SO important, but I agree with you, it’s tricky to find one that works! I personally haven’t tried the Native deodorant, it’s a little too pricey for me, but I definitely think you’re the first person I’ve seen that doesn’t care for it, so I found your little review to be helpful! Schmidt’s is definitely my favorite. I’ve also tried the unscented Type A formula & I feel the same as you about it!

I’ve tried a few natural deodorants over the years. I haven’t found one I love, but I’m happy with several.
I have tried a few natural deodorant. I started off with crystal stick. The crystal stick was good but you have to wet it to apply it. Which can be annoying. Now I’m down to two that I found in Walmart
I found a walmart brand Equate and a naturally fresh brand. They are Ok. But I travel with mines when I’m out all day and reapply when I can.
