Productivity Over Busyness

Hey Y’all Hey! Kijan ou Ye! How are you doing?

We often find ourselves wasting our own time when we don’t know what to do next, especially during these times of COVID-19. Most people I know are staying home due to this outbreak. So while you are staying home ask yourself the following questions…Did you set any goals for yourself this year? If so, have you taken any steps towards those goals? Do you ever feel like you’re too busy but you realize that you aren’t doing anything productive?

We are now in the third chapter of this year and I have to say that sometimes I find myself being so called busy but I realize I haven’t done anything productive. That’s a bit sad right? I’m learning that I need to be more intentional with my time.

Here are 3 easy tips to help you be more productive:

  • Make a To Do List
  • Create a Routine
  • Don’t Multitask

Bonus

  • What you don’t finish today, finish tomorrow!

So let’s discuss a little further about each step shall we…

Making a to-do list is important to being productive. You need to set goals for your day when you have a lot on your plate. Once you set your goals, you can then create a list to figure out how you will achieve that goal.

Create a routine to make life easier. Every Sunday I have a routine to prepare myself for the upcoming week. As a mom, I know plans don’t always work out but setting that foundation is a great start. Especially if you are working from home, creating a routine so that you can get your work done on time is beneficial.

Let’s try not to multitask shall we. I know some people are great at multitasking however, it’s best to focus on one thing at a time. Sometimes multitasking causes you to let important things slip.

Last but not least what you don’t finish today, don’t sweat because there’s always tomorrow. Finish what you can today and add the unfinished task to the top of your list for tomorrow.

Productivity isn’t about doing more right, it’s actually about making more use of your time. And to be productive, you need to have a good system in place. I’m starting to build a better system for myself. With this system, I hope for it to help me be more productive and maybe it can help you as well.

I needed to this post today. I have been so called busy but then realize I haven’t done anything productive these past few months. Ever since this outbreak of the coronavirus, I have taken the time to actually get things done and I love it! Each and every day, I am getting something done that I kept putting off to do.

For me, sometimes busyness makes me feel good….at the moment. Like I’m important, or have soooo many things to do, that I can’t possibly get to them all. But then at the end of the day, I look back and realize I haven’t done a thing. lol. I’m starting to learn that it’s better for me to make bite sized goals, so that I get the same sense of accomplishment that I get from the fake busyness.
