Over the past few months I have been wanting to start up a new YouTube channel but I kept making excuses after excuses. I started overthinking it and kept talking myself out of it. I would use the excuse of not having time because I’m a mom. Then I would tell myself you only have time to work on your blog, you can’t add another project on top of that. I was coming up with some of the most ridiculous excuses ever.
Then one day, while my son was playing with his aunt, I decided to pull out my tripod and got to recording my first video for the new channel. After recording it, I was so proud of myself for taking that step to START.

Although I was scared of starting over in the YouTube world, I had to tell myself if this is something you want to do then you have to START. Starting is the first step! You need to learn to work at what you want and master it. Don’t give up until you reach your goals. STOP Stopping Yourself!
You need to remind yourself that you are powerful, one of a kind, amazing human being, blessed and made with purpose.

As a creative, I find that I’m the problem. My self doubt and lack of confidence in myself and my work allows me to stop myself from moving forward. It’s a constant battle to not compare my work with someone else’s. But there has to be something to compare with. If I never hit publish then what am I comparing. It does not matter that your work will be compared to someone else’s. The only thing that matters is to not use that as an excuse. It is perfectly normal to be scared but do not be the one to get in your own way.
I’m here to tell myself and you if you are struggling as well, STOP stopping yourself and go for it. Learn to get out of your own way. You never know where it may take you. Hop on the journey and enjoy the ride, even the hurdles that will come.
Find your way! Make your mistakes but don’t ever give up!

I don’t think anyone will ever understand the internal struggles we go through as creatives unless they are a creative themselves. When I first started my blog, I had so much self-doubt that I almost gave up on it but I had to get out of my own way and keep going. Thank you for sharing xxx
Love this post! We are so hard on ourselves and, you are right, we need to stop stopping ourselves! You will never succeed if you don’t even try! Thanks, so great!
I love this! I too struggle with stopping myself. I now challenge myself to point why it can work instead of pointing out why it can’t work. If it’s something that on our hearts, we deserve to start. We can (and will) learn throughout the journey. Thank you for sharing!
Very motivating article … and all so TRUE. We have to start somewhere, we just need to take the first step, then the next one. Well done on the YouTube channel. I look forward to seeing more of you.
You are so right, comparison does cause a lot of issue in our world of blogging. I keep thinking that it is so saturated in some niches and why on earth would people want to see me…. which is me in my own head.
Hooray to you for getting started on your videos! Onwards and upwards I say!!!
Needed this today! Love the positive message.
Great post! I did YouTube for a few months and was consistent, have over 30+ vidoes. It was part of my last business, so when I had to close I closed YT down. I was so scared to close and start something new. It was my first successful baby, you know? I was scared if I start something new it wouldn’t be as good. But what I had forgot was how much I learned from owning a business and mistakes I now can watch out for. Boom! started my blog and already had a sponsor. You are right, JUST START!
Thanks for sharing!
