Hey Y’all Hey! Kijan ou Ye! How are you doing?
So you want to start a blog but you don’t know where to start…head over to my previous post where I give you some steps to take that helped me in starting All Things Simply Windy.

Today I bring you 5 reasons why you shouldn’t start a blog. If you are on the fence and are not sure if blogging is for you then keep on reading and if any of these reasons speak to you then you probably should reconsider starting a blog.
- You just want to make money
If starting a blog to make money is your number one reason then blogging may not be for you. I understand that in this day and age we are all looking to make some extra money because let’s be real…adulting sucks! But if that’s your sole purpose in starting a blog then this is not for you. You most likely will start and stop because it will become too much for you.
- Free! Free! Free!
You tell yourself you’ll start blogging just to get free products. HA! When people say there’s nothing free…that’s a true statement. A brand may send you free products but the time you invest in creating a blog post and / or an Instagram post is precious. So although you are receiving free products, you still need to take the time to give your opinion.
- All I need to do is write a blog and make it go live!
Do you think all you need to do is simply write a blog post and upload it and then write another one a week or two later?? Honestly when I first started blogging that’s what I did. I would upload a post, forget about it and then upload another post. But I realized that by doing that no one was reading my post. I wasn’t promoting it on social media so no one knew I had a blog. Now that I’m an active blogger I’m here to tell you that you need to share your work. You need to promote your blog to be seen and not just once but when you’re first starting out it has to be daily. Writing a post may be easy to you but you will need to create graphics to promote your blog. The pictures that you post on your blog has to be clear and sharp.
- You hate alone time!
If you don’t like your own company then starting a blog might not be for you. When you start a blog especially in the beginning, you will spend hours on top of hours in front of a screen. Your laptop or computer will become your best friend at this point especially when designing your blog.
- Blogging is easy
You think to yourself blogging is easy I can do this. But I’m here to tell you that blogging may look easy but it is hard work. After all people do make a living as a blogger. You need to be dedicated to this job like you would be dedicated to any other job. Blogging is no walk in the park! There’s so much that goes into creating your content and promoting it.
So really think carefully about these 5 points before joining the blogging world. You will spend money before you make money. There will be trials and tribulations but if you really want it then you will put in the work and time.
Also before investing the time and money, I suggest doing a trial run. By trial run I mean not buying a domain. For example on WordPress and Wix you’ll notice they have free plans and the ending of your site will be your blog name.wordpress.com or your blog name.wixsite.com. I went through this phase before deciding to take the plunge to start All Things Simply Windy.
Now that you have gotten through those steps and you realize that blogging is for you, then read: How To Start A Blog!

Everything you said is so accurate! Blogging is definitely not easy!
Thank you for writing this post! Blogging is HARD work. Not that it can’t be fun, but is IS work. And I believe number 3 is the biggest myth of them all 😉
Those statements are all so true! It is not easy, it takes a lot of time and energy! I love blogging but it is a full time job if you want to do it right!!
I totally agree with all your statements. The amount of work it takes to build and maintain a blog is ridiculous and if your hearts not in it youre never going to keep it going.
You speak the truth! It is not easy or for everyone. Great point .
These are great tips for starting a blog and having realistic tips. I wish I knew this when I started out.
100% true!😘
These are wise words! 💚
